چکیده
Introduction The human reaction to traumatic events is often marked by a dialectic alteration of two emotional states –a state characterized intrusion, anxiety and hyperarousal, denial dissociation numbing. These seemingly opposite represent attempts modulate stress, as gradual reduction their intensity represents an adaptation stress. Maladaptive reactions trauma, however, reflect disrupted regulation capacities, manifested persistent over-modulation or under-modulation Objectives To demonstrate that these manifestations regulation, observed among individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) borderline personality (BPD) are also reflected in patterns pain modulation. Methods Three studies using self-report questionnaires psychophysical tests, assessing sensitivity pain, thresholds, reactivity suprathreshold noxious stimuli, implicated rating Results Study 1 Included 32 PTSD outpatients, 29 20 healthy controls. patients reported higher rates chronic (83.3%) than (42.0%) controls (5.0%). severity correlated ( r = 0.61, p < 0.01). displayed unique paradoxical profile, according which thresholds were significantly those the (p 0.01), but they perceived stimuli being much more intense 2 included outpatients 43 Findings replicated profile patients. Pain positively associated level b 0.49; 0.05) negatively -0.63, ratings 0.52, related levels -.51, 0.05). 3 46 women diagnosed BPD 47 Women childhood trauma They demonstrated Among subjects high body dissociation, reduced awareness, hyposensitivity lower ratings, evoked temperature, low increased temperature. Conclusions findings association between respectively, point parallel processes traumatized individuals. Disclosure Interest None Declared

In this sample, the prevalence of DESNOS overlapped to a large degree with ...
